Golden Oak is a private residential community located on Walt Disney World property. The name references Golden Oak Ranch, a Disney production facility in California used since the 1950’s. Although the Golden Oak community is closed to the general public, you can get access through a resident or by staying/dining at the on-site Four Seasons Resort. The name of each neighborhood has a significant meaning from Walt Disney’s life: Carolwood: Walt lived on Carolwood Drive from 1950-1967. Kimball Trace: Ward Kimball was one of Walt Disney’s original team of animators/artists known as the Nine Old Men. Kingswell: A reference to the street in Los Angeles, Kingswell Avenue, where Walt lived and worked when he first moved to Hollywood. Marceline: The name of the town where Walt Disney spent the formative years of his childhood. Silverbrook: Presumably inspired by Silver Lake, the location of Walt and Roy’s first large animation studio in LA. Symphony Grove: An homage to Walt Disney’s Silly Symphonies cartoons.
