The Festival of the Lion King is a live-musical production at Hong Kong Disneyland. The show opened with the park on September 12, 2005 and is similar to (but not a clone of) the show of the same name at Disney’s Animal Kingdom.
Show Details
- The theater that houses Festival of the Lion King here is named Theater in the Wild, the same name as the theater that houses Finding Nemo – The Musical in Walt Disney World.
- While this version of the show features live vocalists singing songs from the animated film, it differs from it’s Broadway counterpart as the show itself is in the form of a musical revue and not a re-telling of the story from the film, similar to Animal Kingdom’s version.
- As this show is in Hong Kong Disneyland, the audience may speak a variety of languages. As such, Rafiki’s and the other character’s English narration is repeated in Cantonese by trouble-making tumble monkeys. All songs are performed in English and additional translation into Simplified Chinese is provided by overhead monitors.
