Kilauea Point’s clifftop lighthouse. Photo by Adrian

This non-functioning lighthouse on Kauai’s north shore is situated on a rocky peninsula 180 feet above the Pacific Ocean. Built in 1913, the lighthouse is part of a tract of land which is now a National Wildlife Refuge.

The lighthouse can be seen briefly in watercolor form during 2002’s Lilo & Stitch when Stitch drives Lilo around the island in a tricycle, looking for a city to destroy. Stitch must have strong legs as this lighthouse is over 40 miles away from their their home of Kokaua (based on a real town called Hanapepe).
