Villa del Balbianello is an 18th-century Italian mansion. The villa’s position on Lake Como was the inspiration for Queen Amidala’s lake retreat on Naboo, as seen during Star Wars: Episode II – Attack of the Clones (2002). The exterior was slightly modified using CGI to fit the Star Wars motif.

Scenes were filmed inside the villa, including one on the balcony where Anakin and Padmé kiss for the first time as well as return to have their wedding at the end of the film.
