Doge’s Palace is a grand palace in Venice’s St. Mark’s Square. The lavish pink and white palace became a museum in 1923. This ‘S’ shaped canal runs through the center of the city and acts as a highway of sorts to the complex network of canals that make up Venice. This waterway inspired replicas that can be found in both Epcot’s Italy Pavilion and Tokyo DisneySea’s Mediterranean Harbor. It’s famous gondola rides inspired a Venetian Gondolas attraction in DisneySea as well. In film, the canals are heavy featured during Spider-Man: Far from Home (2019) during Peter Parker’s class trip to Europe. Harrison Ford spent the day here on August 8, 1988 as he filmed scenes for Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade (1989). The Ponte Vecchio (Italian for “Old Bridge”) is a bridge spanning Florence’s Arno River. In 1442, the city asked all butchers to move their shops on to the bridge as a means to isolate them from the city and dispose their waste directly into the river below. The bridge became a market and eventually expanded by adding support brackets for additional shops. The distinct look of the Ponte Vecchio is replicated in Tokyo DisneySea as a souvenir shop called Rimembranze takes up residence on a similar looking bridge in the Mediterranean Harbor section of the park. The Sistine Chapel is a chapel in the Vatican City complex in Rome, Italy. It houses some of the most famous fresco paintings in the world including Michelangelo‘s ceiling masterpiece, The Creation of Adam. It took this Renaissance painter nearly four years to complete the entirety of the chapel’s interior. Although historically incorrect in its depiction, a scene of Michelangelo on his back painting this world famous ceiling can be found in animatronic form inside Epcot’s Spaceship Earth attraction. Arguably the most famous landmark of Venice, this campanile (or bell tower) stands nearly 325 feet (99 meters) high and is situated near Doge’s Palace. A one-fifth scale replica of the campanile can be found as the tallest point of Epcot’s Italy Pavilion. The tower and surrounding square can also be seen during when Peter Parker and friends visit during Spider-Man: Far from Home (2019).
