Australia’s Great Barrier Reef is the setting of Pixar’s Finding Nemo (2003). The film takes viewers on a journey with Marlin and Dory from Nemo’s home in the Great Barrier Reef to Sydney Harbour. You can find recreations of the reef in Disney Parks by watching Finding Nemo – The Musical, visiting The Seas with Nemo & Friends, or riding Finding Nemo Submarine Voyage. The Lau Islands are a remote group of islands set between Melanesian Fiji and Polynesian Tonga. While it’s unknown if Motunui is one of the Lau Islands or a neighboring archipelago, it is certain that one of the Lau Islands was used as a filming location for the beautiful tropical scene during Soarin’ Around the World (Disney California Adventure), Soarin’ Around the World (Epcot), Soaring Over the Horizon, and Soaring: Fantastic Flight. Sydney Harbour, with it’s iconic Opera House, is one of the featured locations seen during Soarin’ Around the World (Disney California Adventure), Soarin’ Around the World (Epcot), Soaring Over the Horizon and Soaring: Fantastic Flight. This location is also featured in Pixar’s Finding Nemo (2003) where Marlin and Dory travel to from the Great Barrier Reef in search of Nemo. Unfortunately, there is no 42 Wallaby Way nearby in the real Sydney. If you can’t make it to Australia, you can visit a recreated portion of this harbour as it’s the setting of Crush’s Coaster at the Walt Disney Studios Park.
